Vizcaya Dental Arts wants every patient and visitor to be able to use this website and to visit the office comfortably. This statement describes what we do to make that possible, what we are still working on, and how to tell us when something is not working for you.
This website
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 at level AA, the standard most widely used for websites. In practice that means the site is built so that:
- Every page can be read and navigated with a keyboard alone, and the element in focus is visible.
- Text and background colors have enough contrast to be read comfortably.
- Headings, lists and tables are marked up so that screen readers announce the structure of a page.
- Images that carry information have text descriptions; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Text can be enlarged in the browser without breaking the layout, and the site works on phones and tablets.
- Nothing flashes, and no content moves in a way that cannot be paused.
- Forms have labels, and errors are explained in words.
The site also carries the UserWay accessibility widget, the round button at the edge of every page, which lets you enlarge text, raise contrast, pause motion, highlight links, adjust spacing and have the page read aloud, among other settings.
We test with keyboard navigation and screen readers as the site is built, and we review new pages as they are added. We may not get everything right. If you find a page or a feature that does not work for you, please tell us and we will fix it or give you the information another way.
The office
The practice is on the third floor of the Mercy Medical Arts building on the Mercy Hospital campus. The building has an accessible entrance, accessible parking spaces in the garage below the building, and an elevator to our floor; valet parking is also available, and a parking attendant can direct you. The restroom is wheelchair accessible. If you use a wheelchair or have difficulty walking, tell us when you book and we will make sure your visit is arranged with that in mind, including the treatment room and the time allowed. Service animals are welcome.
If you have a hearing or vision impairment, or need information in another format, let us know before the visit so we can prepare. Consultations are available in English and Spanish, and with Dr. Kottar in Italian and with Dr. Hong in Mandarin.
Tell us about a barrier
If anything on this website or at the office is hard for you to use, call or text (305) 568-8899, or use the form on our contact page. Please describe the page or the problem and the device or assistive technology you were using. We aim to respond within a few business days, and we will provide the information you were looking for in a form that works for you while we fix the problem.
Third-party content
Some features on this site are provided by other companies, such as the map and the appointment request form, and we cannot always control how accessible they are. If one of them is in your way, contact us and we will help you reach the same result by phone.
